Naturopathic Medicine

with Dr. Margaux French

I adore naturopathic medicine. From the moment I first learned about it, I have been awed by the grace of its approach and effectiveness of its therapies. At its heart, it is not just a system of healthcare that uses natural substances instead of their drug counterparts. Rather, it is an approach to understanding and working with the body in a way that is attuned to the wisdom and complexity of nature, capable of harnessing its power and precision, to transform people’s lives.

My goal with my patients is to help them access their full potential. For me, health does not mean always eating a perfect diet or taking supplements. While these practices can be helpful, true health is much more than that—it means living in a way that is authentic, balanced, and sustainable so that you can do whatever it is that you came into this life to do.

My job is to help my patients understand what is preventing them from feeling their best—to identify the patterns that come up for them (physically, mentally, emotionally) and to understand what needs to happen to be able to shift out of those patterns.

Symptoms arise as the body’s way of trying to restore balance. So while these symptoms can bring pain and suffering, they also hold the opportunity for transformation and healing.

Many of my patients are highly sensitive individuals. It is my pleasure to support them in learning how to care for their unique constitutions in a way that allows them to more fully inhabit their lives and bodies and brings greater ease and comfort into their lives.

I see patients of all ages, from newborn to elderly. Conditions that I commonly work with include hormonal imbalances, women’s health issues, chronic infections including Lyme disease and EBV, digestive problems, fertility challenges, pregnancy, and postpartum support.

Margaux’s Background

I earned my Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon. Naturopaths are trained in basic medical sciences such as anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, and the holistic sciences of nutritional therapy, herbal medicine, homeopathy, and physical medicine. I’m an academic at heart and naturopathic school fed my innate curiosity about the functioning of the physical body and its energetic system.

As an undergraduate, I majored in comparative religion, with a focus on Buddhist studies, and was lucky to spend a semester in India living in a monastery. At that time I was fascinated by cultural ideas about health and wellness, and religious and philosophical perceptions about what creates and sustains health.

I moved to the Seacoast of New Hampshire in 2008. Originally form New York City, I felt that I found myself when I moved to New Hampshire. I love the grounded quality of the land and the people here.  Nature is my church and living in a place where it is easy to walk in the woods and sit by the ocean does me well. My spiritual practice is central to my life. I found meditation in my early teens and it is one of my pillars. I live in dialog with Spirit and am committed to doing my own healing work so that I can continually grow and evolve.

As a naturopath, I find that having tools to help shift energetic patterns in order to shift physical patterns (i.e. Quantum Physics) is what lies at the heart of my success with patients. It is my passion. I have pursued a lot of additional training in homeopathic medicine, craniosacral therapy, energy work, sound healing, flower essences and essential oils.  I’ve found that bodywork, such as craniosacral therapy and sound healing, is a powerful adjunct to naturopathic treatment, allowing a deeper level of healing to be achieved.

How to Prepare for Your Naturopathic Appointment

When getting to know my patients, I strive to understand their health concerns in the context of their life. This allows me to craft my recommendations in a way that does not just ameliorate the symptom, but rather brings balance to the whole system. This takes time, so I allow 1.5-2 hours for initial appointments. At the end of your initial visit, I will create a treatment plan tailored to your needs, which may  incorporate dietary suggestions, a homeopathic remedy, lifestyle recommendations, or herbs and supplements.

Follow up appointments are one hour, and are typically scheduled 4-6 weeks after the initial visit. At this time, I check in with you to see how you are doing and what adjustments, if any, need to be made in your plan.

Please fill out intake forms below and bring them with you to your first appointment.

If you have had recent lab work, please bring a copy of your labs with you to your visit.
